Shine Your Light
Patina Inspired Life was created to be a catalyst for change. It’s meant to be a place where people are encouraged to rise up and bring forth truth, love and light. Where authenticity is celebrated and the beauty, strength and capabilities within each of us are recognized and enhanced. Where life changing transformation and growth begins.
For those of you who may not be familiar with the term, patina, it’s used to describe the transformation that takes place when objects are exposed over time to natural weatherization. Despite its worn and discolored appearance, this distinct finish is regarded by many as a reflection of character and value.
I believe that in order to live “patina inspired” we must embrace the imperfect and expose our amazing character and uniqueness for all its worth.
Shine your light.
As fate usually works, I was nudged awake at four o’clock this morning by the brightest full moon I’ve seen in a long time. Despite my best efforts, I was unable to fall back asleep due to its vibrancy. The moon literally lit up the entire sky. I was so captivated that I got out of bed and went to the window to take in the beauty. In the darkness of the early morning, this beacon was shedding its glorious light upon our entire country. That’s when it dawned on me.
The moon and the stars cannot shine without darkness.
This country is in a state of darkness. We are beautiful and full of character, yet complicated and imperfect. Our skies have gone dark with fear, judgment, inequality, deceit, and hatred – to name a few. We as a nation have not been bringing enough light into the darkness. Now more than ever, we need a beacon that can cast the light of hope, love and compassion so bright that it causes a massive awakening.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. – MLK, Jr.
I would like to make an urgent plea to you today. That you step forward to be the light our country needs now. I challenge you to become a change agent.
In order to begin seeing sustainable transformation in our communities, our country, and in the world, we need to start by taking small actionable steps each day. I know it sounds too simple to be true, but it really IS that easy.
How do we get started, you ask? We smile. Listen. Help. Teach. Donate. Volunteer. Get involved. Be kind. Show love. Speak truth.
If we’re going to rise as a country, we need to SHINE.
How do you plan to be the light you want to see in the world?
